The theme for Friday's show was very tight jams that were sped up to allow for exploration to take place quicker than normal to allow for the festival crowd. And wow, did they deliver. Carini is the opening punch and DWD is the first jam of the day, but the real meat of the show is the Everything's Right > Mercury > Tweezer - each one contains what is really a spectacular jam! Tweezer especially brings the HOSE - could this be the fastest Tweezer of 3.0? Something was in the water last night.
2001 is a well played dance party, and More is sped up to the point where it gets the crowd back in for... HOOD! Type 2 Hood just melted faces at this year's Bonnaroo, I'm sure of it. Trey departs from the standard Hood soloing and the band gets into a full groove-based jam before returning to the Hood coda at the end. Great stuff, and a Zero closer is nice nonetheless. Possum is well played and sounded terrific and then Tweeprise could close every show until the end of time and I would not be mad. Unbelievable stuff and tempos last night.
Must Hear:
DWD, Everything's Right > Mercury > TWEEZER, Harry Hood
You really can't go wrong with getting this entire show though. The mix is one of the best I've ever heard (honestly sounded like a live soundboard, miles ahead of regular LivePhish) and Phish is cooking as good as they have been. Can't wait for Sunday!
